You have so much on your plate and on your mind. Lets be real, it is too much. The last thing you need to be worried about is whether you have everything you need for labor, delivery, and postpartum. So lets discuss the third trimester checklist that is going to cover absolutely everything you need to prepare for this new (and exciting) chapter in your life.

Stress is completely normal when you hit the third trimester. Your OB appointments are more frequent, you’re more tired, and more sore. My to-do list kept getting bigger and bigger, with me literally not accomplishing sh*t. It’s okay, it is normal.
I have created a third trimester checklist for all you pregnant mamas to ease some of your anxiety, and help your third trimester feel more like a breeze and less like a hurricane.
Lets discuss everything you are going to need in order to conquer this third trimester!
This post is all about the third trimester checklist you need to prepare for all the things, before your due date.
Third Trimester Checklist
I have created a third trimester checklist pdf for you to download and save to your phone!
There is a LOT to talk about in this post. So, I want to make it as easy as possible to read and figure out exactly what YOU need. Below I have a few different sections. The first section is a list I compiled for absolutely everything you are needing to do in the ENTIRE third trimester. I then have three separate, third trimester week checklists (weeks 28-32, 32-36, 36+). Within these, I have added everything I talked about in the previous section and have divided them into each week I would do them. I also added links to where you can find many of these items I talk about. At the end of the post, I discuss everything you will need (or will want) in your hospital bag. Enjoy 🙂
Third Trimester To Do List
![third trimester to do list](https://i0.wp.com/dailyhotmom.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/third-trimester-to-do-list.jpg?resize=1024%2C682&ssl=1)
Lets cover and talk about everything you need to cross off your to do list during your LAST trimester. If you would rather see just a simple list, download my third trimester checklist here! Now lets get into everything you need to do these next 12ish weeks.
schedule prenatal appointments
Prenatal checks will vary depending on the clinic, doctor and your pregnancy. In most cases, you will be seeing your doctor every 2-4 weeks at the beginning of your third trimester. Once you hit 36 weeks, expect to see your doctor weekly. You can find more information about your third trimester visits and what to expect here.
purchase & install car seat
Having your baby’s car seat installed PRIOR to you already being admitted in the hospital is necessary. After you give birth to your beautiful baby, the last thing you will be thinking of is “oh babe can you go home and get the car seat installed, thanks.” This is something that you will want to buy, figure out how to install, and understand how the car seat works BEFORE you go into labor. When baby is getting discharged from the hospital, a nurse will show you how to safely have baby in the car seat.
Take an infant cpr class
It is never too early to learn CPR. Unfortunately, the unexpected does happen and it is incredibly important that you know how to respond. If you only have the time for one class, this is the one class you need to take. I bought newborn classes off of Tinyhood. They have both a CPR and choking class for for the first year of life.
Postpartum essentials kit
Get together everything you need now, so when you come from the hospital you are prepared! I like to keep a caddy of all my essentials both in my bathroom and at my bedside.

newborn essentials
While you add caddy’s to your shopping list, you might as well add two more. Having these storage containers will make your type A brain so, so happy. As for newborn essentials, I just put together the main items that you will need just about every few hours. It will make diaper changes much easier and middle of the night feeds more tolerable. Diapers, wipes, burp cloths, gas drops, and gripe water will be all of what you need. If you are breastfeeding, I would also add in nipple cream, protein bars, and your haaka. Also, make sure to buy a water bottle you love because she will become your new best friend over the next few months.
Two more baby essentials you may want before babe’s arrival are baby nail clippers (you would be surprised with how long of nails baby’s come out with) and vitamin D drops, if you plan to breastfeed.
meal prep
Think you will have the motivation, time, and energy to make dinner for you and your family after baby? Sorry sis. I STILL don’t have the energy to cook. The first two weeks you are going to be extremely exhausted. So do your future self a favor and meal prep and freeze some easy (freezer safe) meals. Turkey chili, casseroles, soups, pot pies, protein muffins, bread loafs, are just a few ideas to help get you started!
sterilize + clean pump parts and bottles
Again, this is just another thing you do not want to be doing once baby is here. I also found it huge to figure out how my pump worked PRIOR to my first time using it. Don’t actually hook it up to your boobs yet, but learning how to set it up and what the buttons all mean can save you a lot of time and headache.
wash a few newborn and 0-3 month old clothes
Don’t be like me and wash all of your baby clothes. I decided this was a great idea and then when the time came, I totally forgot what clothes I actually washed. Also, you don’t know what size of clothes your baby will fit into. So that is why I suggest only washing a few of each size.
write out baby shower thank you’s
If you had a baby shower, now is definitely the time to be writing out your thank you cards if you haven’t already done so!
get a wax, schedule your hair appointment
These things might not be necessary for everyone, but they were for me. I knew after baby arrived, many things would be on hold for awhile. Also, this just gives you another reason to spoil yourself, because you absolutely should.
find pet and sibling arrangements
Figure out who is going to take care of and watch all your other babies while you are at the hospital.
hospital info
Make sure, prior to you going into labor, that you find out ALL the hospital information. This all includes: how to get to your hospital, parking lot, where to enter/get admitted, OB unit phone number (in case you have questions or aren’t sure if you are in labor), and the signs and symptoms of labor/needing to go into the hospital. All of these questions can be answered at your prenatal appointments!
Pack Hospital Bag, Partners bag
I have a whole section below dedicated to what you should all include in your hospital bag.
rest, as much as you can
Last on this list is rest. Which probably sounds annoying and has you rolling your eyes. Yes i know I just told you to go do a bunch of things, but the beauty in all of this is that it does NOT need to get done in a day. And it shouldn’t. Because you then will end up just like I did and get burnt out and cry and stress over what pads you should be buying.

Hospital Bag Checklist
![hospital bag checklist](https://i0.wp.com/dailyhotmom.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/hospital-bag-checklist.jpg?resize=1024%2C682&ssl=1)
Okay, the time has FINALLY come. Lets talk about what you are all going to need (and want) to bring to the hospital. I have also created a pdf for this section, I kept it blank so you are able to add in your own specific things. Click here for the hospital bag checklist pdf.
All BLACK or dark clothes
You will be bleeding sis so no need to bring your cute white robe. I highly suggest bringing all things black or at least dark in color.
While we are on the topic of clothes, I highly suggest bring all things cozy. Sweatshirts, over sized t-shirts, leggings, and sweats. Your belly may not be as big as it was two days ago, but it will still be there.
maternity bras
My personal favorite are these from Amazon. They are super inexpensive, get the job done, and are very comfortable.
slippers
The UGG Coquette Slides are the coziest slippers I have ever owned! Your feet will love you forever. This is definitely a must because you do not want to be walking on the gross, cold floor at 4 AM.
toiletry essentials and makeup bag
snacks
This is no secret, but the hospital food is not it. Also, you never know when you will have to get admitted (aka cafeteria is closed). So I HIGHLY suggest bringing some of your own, favorite snacks.
Extra long phone charger
Hospital outlets are in a bunch of crazy places, so make sure to have a phone charger that is long enough to reach wherever your phone may be at.
baby essentials
Car seat, baby’s going home outfit, baby book (if you want nurses to get extra footprints in your book), and mittens (or socks, they come out with LONG fingernails- so this helps them from scratching themselves).
When packing for babe, make sure you are taking into consideration the weather. Things like car seat covers, hats, or clothes for warmer weather may be more appropriate.
ID, insurance info, any hospital forms
misc.
Airpods, water bottle, iPad, a book (you might be in labor for awhile), are all things that aren’t NEEDS but they definitely will be nice to have.
And there you go! That is the complete list for your third trimester checklist. You are all set for your third trimester and ready to go to the hospital! I wish you all the best and hope you get everything you want in this experience. I will be sending you all the best and healthiest energy your way, as you end your third trimester and experience labor and delivery. xxx
This post was all about the third trimester checklist you want and need to have the most successful end of your pregnancy.
