In your mid 20’s and starting to see some dark circles? Or are you a mom and all of a sudden your under eyes have transformed? Same. My under eyes have always been great and youthful. Even in college when I was high level stress and getting 2 hours of sleep, they’ve been great. Fast forward to now, and that’s not the case for me anymore. Motherhood and turning 27 have really hit hard. The great thing about todays world is there has been some research. For both long and short term fixes, let’s discuss how to brighten under eyes.
Once I started seeing dark circles under my eyes, I thought for sure there is no going back. BUT, I was wrong sis. From makeup to skin care to even food, there are ways that we can retrieve our young, glowing under eyes.
I have had a little trial and error with this topic of how to brighten my eyes. Obviously, when you become a mom you lose sleep. And even once your kid starts sleeping through the night, you still aren’t sleeping. Or maybe you are in your mid 20’s and started your new career. Sleepless nights and stress aren’t the only contributing factors. Even just applying your makeup wrong can really amplify the dull look below your eyes.
So, let’s fix your tired mom eyes and figure out how we are going to get our hot mom look 🙂
This post is all about finding effective ways on how to brighten under eyes.
How To Brighten Under Eyes
how to brighten under eyes fast
If you’re needing a quick fix to your under eyes, there are thankfully many beauty products to help you look snatched. Finding the right products, tools and using the right technique will be extremely beneficial.
concealer
Face makeup products like concealer and foundation can be a great first step to getting your under eyes glowing. My favorite concealer currently is this one by Fenty Beauty. Another great option for a drug store budget is this option by Maybelline. Both of these concealers will target your dark circles and give your under eyes the even toned look you are going for.
When it comes to picking out the best shade for your concealer, I really believe in choosing a lighter tone. If you are in a store, you can decide what your best shade is by using your inner wrist or under your jaw. By choosing a lighter shade, you will be evening your dark circles and not amplifying them with too dark of a shade.
Not only do you want to be using the best makeup products for your under eyes, but it is also important to use the right tools to apply. I personally almost always apply my concealer with my makeup sponge. I make sure to get the sponge a little wet, that way it prevents your concealer from coming off too caked on.
After applying concealer, I apply my foundation. The tip is here to not over do it under your eyes, with the product. No matter the type or brand of my foundation, I have always noticed how my under eyes look almost worst after applying the foundation. Or three hours later I have creases under my eyes. The trick is here to literally barely apply any foundation to the under eyes. I still like to add a little so it balances out my concealer shade to the foundation.
cc cream/powder
Another great swap for foundation is a cc cream. You get the coverage for your eyes AND color correction, without getting the heaviness that foundation can bring.
Also, another great tip to keep your concealer/cc cream (or whatever you are using) under your eyes looking tight- keep it locked in with a setting powder. I personally like to bake my under eyes with Laura Mercier loose setting powder. It’s super easy and will keep grease away and creases away.

how to brighten under eyes naturally
Whether you have some puffiness under your eyes or dark circles, there are many skin care products out there to help. I feel like eye creams have been the new thing lately. So naturally for me, whenever something becomes a hot topic I either am all for it or pass. Immediately, I thought it was just another unnecessary fad and passed.
Well around 8 months post baby, my dark circles were hitting me just a little too hard. We had gone through like 3 different sleep regressions, and my eyes had enough. So I decided to give in, and I picked up a few different under eye products.
skin care products
The first product I bought is the super popular Tula brightening balm. I’m going to be honest, immediately I wasn’t super impressed with the product. I say this only because it felt like it was just sitting on my face (lol). Once I learned how to properly use the product, I actually learned to really love it. This is probably a no brainer, but you definitely want to apply the product and then rub it in with your finger. Like I said, probably common sense but just thought I would mention in case your brain works like mine 😉 Once I started doing this technique it really made such a difference. The thing about this product is you get the immediate eye brightening look, but because of it’s ingredients like hyaluronic acid and caffeine, you get the long term benefits too.
More recently, I bought from the brand we all love and know, Mario Badescu. I bought the super inexpensive caffeine eye cream. I’m not really sure when these products have the ingredient “caffeine” in them what that actually means? Like is that actually seeping through my skin and into my blood stream? It’s probably such a little amount, but to be safe I do just use these products in the morning. This product too has hyaluronic acid, which works great for making your under eyes look super bouncy and youthful. I really love this under eye cream because it helps SO much with my dark circles, and it looks good under my makeup. I would 100% say if your eyes are struggling but you don’t want to spend your life’s savings, grab this cream.
Once and awhile I like to up my under eye game with eye masks. These are great if you have really hit your low point and are desperate. I love to do these like once a month or so. Make sure you find ones that have the key ingredients: hyaluronic acid or niacinamide.

my beloved face roller
After I have gone through my whole skin care regimen, I snatch it all up with my facial roller. Again, this was another product that was incredibly popular. I have heard back and forth comments from dermatologists if it actually works. What I do know is this feels amazing on my skin. I personally have swollen lymph nodes all the time. And when I go in with this jade roller, it gives my skin such a tight, fresh look. Now the reason dermatologists aren’t all for them is because they say it’s temporary. The next morning you have to do it all over again. Well, duh I have to do my skin care every morning too, so what’s the difference.
For me, I love it. I begin up in the center of my eye brows and work my way out and down. So next I hit my under eyes and really focus on getting the puffiness out. I do this about ten times, starting by nose and out to my temples. Then I just work my way down my face and down to my jawline/neck. You can definitely do this both morning and night, but I typically only do it in the AM. And I swear, you will walk out of your bathroom feeling like a new hot bitch.
make your eyes pop
Another great way to hide away your dull, dark under eyes is by making something else on your face stand out. Whether this is making your eyelashes look amazing or doing your brows, this is a great way to distract others’ eyes.
look inward
Diet is another great adjustment you can make to decrease any puffiness you may have. Too much salt causes swelling within our body. So, in case you woke up with increased puffy under eyes, maybe evaluate your diet and what you ate for dinner the night before.
Learning and understanding how to brighten and tighten your under eyes doesn’t have to be so difficult. Sometimes I feel when I heavily focus on them, they look worse. I hope this post took some worry off you. Dark/puffy under eyes can be extremely normal ESPECIALLY for us that are getting less sleep. Go pick up a few skin care & makeup items and let the rest do its work. I hope you guys have an amazing rest of your week! xxx
