the importance of a night face cream
We are in our hot mom era, right? And we aren’t 19 anymore, where we can do just about anything to our body and get away with it. Taking care of our skin is HUGE. Would you ever take a shot of tequila without a chaser? Maybe, if you’re crazy (which in all honesty is fine- I wish I had your strength lol). But you probably shouldn’t! So let this be a little reminder the next time you are at the bar, pickle backing some Patron, to of course wash your face but IMPORTANTLY lather on some night cream.
Okay, so why is it so important to use a night face cream anyways? Your skin has been through a lot during the day. While you have been working your butt off or chasing your toddler around, your skin has been protecting you from EVERYTHING. Rain, wind, germs, creepy guys at the gym, etc… You name it, and your skin has your back. That is why it is so important to take care of it at night time.
but doesn’t a Walmart cream work just fine?
I can’t even count on all my body parts how many different night face creams I have tried. In high school and college, I would say my budget was like Walmart? Maybe? So yes, I’ve tried many drugstore moisturizers. Honestly, most aren’t that bad. They do get the job done. And honestly, when you are on a tight budget in school and worrying more about saving any extra cash for vodka for the weekend, Olay and Neutrogena do get by just fine.
We are grown women now, and our skin deserves something better. It is up to US to put in the work. We all know, skin isn’t just something that gets better over time. Genes obviously play a major role in our skin outcomes, but play your part and wear SPF and get the little more expensive cream.
& the winner IS…

Okay girls ready for the tea? After years of trial and error, I have finally found the most perfect night face cream, and her name is Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream. She is so beautiful on the inside and out. She literally feels like satin on your cheeks. I get so excited when I get to the point in my skincare routine where I get to put this cream on. The container is so pretty and sleek looking, and it even comes with a cute little applicator which is very helpful if you have long nails. One little sweep of this magic in a bottle on your face, and you too will be committed for life. The smell OMG the smell you GUYS. It’s not overwhelming in the slightest, but it has the goods. She is everything you would want to smell before you lay on your pillow for your beauty sleep.
So of course, a product like her is not cheap, which is the only negative, BUT it could be worse. I believe I picked mine up at Sephora for around $70, but that is how you know a product is worthy. Any $20 night cream trying to preach of its hydrating, moisturizing, plumping qualities is LYING to you sis.
get a night cream that can do both
By now you probably have a pretty good idea what skin type you have. I also think it is safe to say that our skin constantly changes, which is why for me it was important to pick a night face cream that can do it all. When I was pregnant, I had that “glowing” skin everyone likes to talk about (AKA my skin was oily as shit). Also, winter where I live means negative 35 degrees out, so my skin is basically on the edge of falling off. You get my point. This Tatcha night face cream has been through it all with me. ND winters, pregnancy and postpartum it has been my tried and true.
morning glow
We all love a good morning glow. None of my past night face creams have ever given me that look. I honestly never knew that was a thing until I first heard about Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream. Sure when you first apply most moisturizers they make your skin look good, but I can almost guarantee it doesn’t last more than 20 minutes. Even when my skin is at its driest, this face cream still pulls through.
day vs. night creams
I am pretty sure only a couple years ago I realized my day cream should not be the same as my night cream. Which if you are still on that trend- no judgement! But we should maybe discuss what the differences are when moisturizers are labeled as “daytime” and “evening.” Day creams typically contain SPF and are more light weight, so makeup can glide right on without looking caked on. Evening face creams are (or should be) much more thick and heavy to get your skin all nice and plump for the next day. So do you NEED two moisturizers for your daily skincare routine? I mean no but probably- if you want your moisturizers to do their job, you need to use them correctly.
reward your skin
As stated above, your skin is precious. Your skin is a vital organ, and it needs and deserves to be treated well. There are multiple products in your skincare routine that can usually be subbed for a drugstore version; however, not with your night face cream. Face lotions are not all made the same, and unfortunately price usually does play a part. Treat yourself this week or grab your significant other’s credit card and go spoil yourself 😉
So go treat your skin to some Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream. Thanks for reading and see ya next time! 🙂
